Turkey Sloppy Joes
High protein, easy to prep & super delish!!! Sloppy Joe’s were a childhood fav and are so versatile!
One night I threw on some delicate squash, another night on a hot/cold salad with other veggies, and paired with spaghetti squash!
You can also add in a sub, make a crunch wrap, use this recipe onto of nachos … the options are endless!
Ingredients:
1 lb of extra lean ground turkey (can sub for chicken or beef)
1 8 ounce can of tomato sauce
1 sweet yellow onion
1 bell pepper
1 TB fresh minced garlic or dried works
1/2 TB smoked paprika
1 tsp red chili flakes
Salt & pepper to taste
1 TB yellow mustard
1 TB bbq sauce (I used G Hugh’s sweet & spicy)
2 stevia packets (helps the acidity in tomatoes)
Time to make it:
I coated a skillet with coconut oil spray (can use oil but that brings up the fat content in the recipe), browned the turkey.
While that was cooked, I finely diced the sweet onion and bell pepper.
I added those chopped veggies inn with the cooked meat & then added all other ingredients! I let it come to a boil, then let simmer for 30-40 min so that the onions & peppers could get soft!
Super easy to whip up and prep for the week! I weighed the final batch at 1000 grams on my food scale. That is the # of “servings” I entered into the recipe I create in myfitnesspal.
Then each time I went to eat it, I would pre log the number of “servings” I wanted and would weight hat number out in grams.
